Their Past...

Firebats don't actually know much about their own past as they don't have any written history. The only thing remaining is the tale they still tell to their children about Cayo Gaius, a leader of the Firebats' first generation that got stuck in the Underworld. The tales talk about him fighting against their oppressors with the help of the Sphera Artificium and a machine that can control it. He tried to get the Firebats back to the Overworld where they come from. But the tale turns dark, as Morningstar personally rounded up Cayo after he went hiding for a week. Cayo was imprisoned and tortured by Morningstar until he died. The tale also talks about what Cayo did when he was hiding: he left clues to the hiding place of the Sphera he used so only a Firebat could find it and take up the mantle of the saviour. The Firebats finished the monument for their fallen leader that he started to build. This monument, though broken and worn by time, still stands on the Ancient Firebat Plains.

Their Present...

Firebats only knew servitude for as long as they can remember. They always lived in the underworld - everything checks out: fire resistant skin and fur, a flame between their small horns. They have relatively short lifespans compared to us humans, not to mention the entities ruling them, as they seem to be eternal. The average years a Firebat could live is around 30 years, so that's why they could be brainwashed in around 7 generations and this is why they forgot their past. The fire between their horns is called Soulkindle, this is basically their soul. Every living Firebat has this, and as their hope returns, the flame shines brighter. There are Firebats that lost all hope and though they didn't die physically, their Soulkindle extinguished and they fall in a half-life existence worshipping Morningstar and the Lieutenants as Gods.

Their Future...

As the Revolution starts, the player can uncover the truth about the Firebats and Morningstar. What really happened, where the Firebats came from? It is not a big secret that the Firebats had the Sphera, a strange technology, so maybe they had other things too and a much more interesting and richer past than they can remember.
